Yay for W00t!
Meriam-Webster's Word of the Year for 2007 is "w00t," I report.
Give a Little Bit
I mention four worthy causes to consider when giving charitable donations: Treats for Troops, Cell Phones for Soldiers, Heifer International and Oxfam Unwrapped.
Three charities I failed to mention, but which could greatly benefit from support: The Hunger Site, Free Rice and The iVillage Forest.
Santa's Little Helper
I talk about attending "The Santaland Diaries," a play based upon an essay written by David Sedaris, who first rose to prominence after a 1992 reading of the essay on NPR's "Morning Edition." His original reading of the essay can be heard here. (Read more about it at my personal blog, eclectica.)
Hear That? It's the Sound of Records Breaking!
I'm happy to say that Josh Groban's "Noel" has held the #1 position on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart for four consecutive weeks, breaking a record previously held by Elvis Presley's 1957 "Elvis' Christmas Album." At this point, "Noel" is the besst-selling album of 2007 in the U.S. Congratulations to Josh!
Live performances of songs from "Noel":
"O, Come All Ye Faithful"
"It Came Upon a Midnight Clear" - Includes short interview
"I'll Be Home for Christmas" - Includes short interview (and Josh's "Chipmunks" impression!)
"The Christmas Song" - Includes short interview
Music Credits
"County Road Christmastime," by Craig Cardiff
"A Pirate Christmas," by Tom Smith
