It's Official, Finally!
I'm extremely pleased to be able to play audio from the Democratic National Convention, in which Sen. Hillary Clinton stops the rollcall vote to ask that Sen. Barack Obama be nominated by acclamation. I'm usually cynical when it comes to politics, but I'm very happy to have been part of the movement that lead up to such a historic moment! It gave me goosebumps. I also talk a bit about Sen. Joe Biden, Barack Obama's newly announced choice for running mate.
Thanks, Blaggards!
I played a song called "Botany Bay," by Blaggards in last week's show, but didn't have a chance to credit them until now. Although they're from Houston, they sound as if they're fresh from the Emerald Isle!
Things That Make You go, "Awwww"
Joshua Radin, one of my favorite singer/songwriters, recently performed at the wedding of Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi. I'm jealous!
The Redeem Team
Congratulations to the USA men's and women's basketball teams for winning gold at the 2008 Summer Games! Congrats also to Manu Ginobili, of the San Antonio Spurs, who helped his fellow Argintines win bronze. Get better soon, Manu!
Song of the Week
The lyrics to The Voluntary Butler Scheme's "Trading Things In" amuse me, so I've chosen it as my song of the moment. It's a fun listen.
Hurray for Live Music
I attended a great Gipsy Kings concert Friday evening. It was a blast and I'll report back with more on the show next week.
Music Credits
"Say Hey, I Love You," by Michael Franti and Spearhead
"Two Angry Kids," by The Street Dogs
"Made of Steel," by Christine Kane
