Show 34 - Just Joanna

Welcome to the thirty-fourth episode of Random Fandom!
Hosted by: Joanna.
Click here to download the show.

A Little Bit of This and That
This week, I host the show by myself, giving my mom a much-deserved break. Since it's just me this week, the show is much shorter than normal, we'll be back to our regular format next week.

As always, thanks for listening! :)
- Joanna

Go Spurs Go!
My favorite basketball team, the San Antonio Spurs, are currently playing against the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the NBA Play-offs.

Learn more about the Spurs at The SpursZone and Project Spurs!

Josh Groban & The African Children's Choir
Josh Groban and The African Children's Choir beautifully sang "You Raise Me Up" on the Idol Gives Back fundraiser special on April 25th. The special raised awareness about and funds for children living in poverty in Africa and the U.S.

You can watch Josh Groban and The African Children's Choir sing "You Raise Me Up" here and view pictures of Josh with the African Children's Choir here.

Festival Fun!
My mom, Laurie, and I are super excited about this: The Austin City Limits Festival will be held in Austin, Texas at Zilker Park on September 14th-16th, 2007. The line-up should include some of our favorite musicians, so we are planning to attend this awesome festival!

The Audiophile Reviews
This American Life is one of my favorite NPR radio programs, but my local NPR station doesn't carry it. Fortunately, it is offered as a podcast on the TAL website! Check out this recent show, which includes a hilarious and thought-provoking talk by John Hodgman.

Have You Heard?
Exciting news about one of my favorite bands: Lifehouse is releasing a new album, titled "Who We Are" in June! You can listen to the first single, "The The First Time," at their MySpace Page.

Starting in mid-June, Lifehouse will be opening for another of my favorite bands, the GooGoo Dolls, on tour. You can find tour dates at the GooGoo Dolls' MySpace Page.

What's on the (You) Tube?
Stephen Colbert recently challenged his viewers to take the video from an interview he'd granted and manipulate it to make it seem as if he'd said outrageous things. The winner of the edit challenge, if there's to be one, has yet to be announced on The Colbert Report; but many of the edits have been posted to YouTube. Check this one out!
