Tea Cakes, Yum!
Join my mom, Laurie, and I this week as we bake Irish "Do Be Careful" tea cakes and talk about reality TV, politics, music, our plans for St. Patrick's Day and lots more.

Obama and Paul, Our Presidential Candidates of Choice
I describe the Barack Obama rally that I attended last Friday at the AmericanBank Center and point out some highlights from his speech. Laurie then talks about attending a Ron Paul rally a few weeks ago in Victoria, Texas. We're both quite happy with our candidates of choice and feel that things are looking up in the American political scene.

to learn more about the Barack Obama rally and to watch his speech, check out this article from the Corpus Christi Caller-Times: Obama's pledge to end Iraq war draws huge applause.

Josh Groban News, as Usual
Laurie talks about watching Josh Groban's performance from Celine Dion's CBS special. I also mention his upcoming South African tour and his upcoming appearance headlining the cast of "Chess" in London, which reminds Laurie that Yusuf Islam has talked of producing a musical.

More Random Music Talk
We also ramble on about Paolo Nutini, Joe Purdy Amos Lee, and the Goo Goo Dolls, as well as TheSixtyOne, a great site for finding music by unknown artists and bands.

Just Music This Week
Due to my move over last weekend, I didn't have time to put a regular show together. I'll be back next week with a show of more substance. Promise! In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the songs from Sean Hayes and Frightened Rabbit, who will both play at the 2008 SXSW Music Festival in March.

Gold for Apolo
I report Apolo Ohno's results from the short track World Cup held in Salt Lake City last weekend and point out the video filmed at the competition. More details about Apolo's race results and the U.S. team's performance are available here.

Update: Check out this excellent Park City TV interview with Apolo Ohno, Simon Cho and Katherine Reutter and a video montage from the SLC World Cup.

Click here to watch Josh Groban and Andrea Bocelli's performance of "The Prayer" at the 2008 Grammy Awards.

Plenty of Guinnesspiration
Paolo Nutini was in Ireland recently to write and record tracks for his upcoming album, I report. There was plenty of Guinnesspiration to be had, according to Paolo.

Currently Listening to...
I recommend the CBC's "Between the Covers" podcast, which is currently producing readings from Richard Scrimger's book, "Still Life With Children."

Just What Your SO Has Always Wanted!
I have a laugh over a radio commercial I heard advertising a company that sells giant plush animals.

Go Fast, Turn Left
I recap Apolo Ohno's results from the short track speedskating World Cup held in Quebec last weekend and talk about the World Cup competition to be held in Salt Lake City this weekend, February 8-10.

Update: NBCOlympics.com will air live video from the Salt Lake City World Cup on February 9 & 10. More details available here.

Song of the Moment
Joe Purdy's song, "Can't Get it Right Today," caught my attention when I heard it on a TV advertisement. Finally, a reason to pay attention to commercials!

Josh Groban TV Appearances
Josh Groban will perform a duet with Andrea Bocelli at the 2008 Grammys on February 10 and will perform "The Prayer" with Celine Dion on her special to air on CBS on February 15, I report. Plus, if you weren't among the lucky few to attend Josh's "Where Music Meets Film" show at the Sundance Film Festival, you can watch a video of his performance of "Awake" from the show here.

At the Theater
I recommend "The Bucket List," a movie that's full of laughs and tear-jerking moments. My favorite kind!

Race for the White House
I give a quick recap of the results from "Super Tuesday" and mention the Texas primary election to be held on March 4.

"Good Days," by Joe Purdy
"Losing Touch," by Against Me!
"One More Song," by Every Avenue

It's Super!
I talk about the upcoming "Super Tuesday" primary elections in the U.S. and mention how easy it is to register to vote.

Why They Write
I recommend the "Why We Write" blog, to which many prominent (and not so prominent) film and television writers contribute.
