Narnia & Music, Two of My Favorite Things
I finally took in "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" this week and enjoyed it immensely. Although the story was changed somewhat for the film, it captured the Narnian spirit quite well, I think. I suggest reading the books, if you've never done so, to get the full picture of the Narnian world and all its various inhabitants.
I've fallen in love with Regina Spektor's song, "The Call," which is featured in the "Prince Caspian" soundtrack. It's beautiful and bittersweet, invoking the longing that must come when one has to leave Narnia. Yes, I'm a geek. ;)
Correction: While talking about the "Hancock" trailer/soundtrack, I said that the "Pirates of the Caribbean" soundtracks were done by Hans Zimmer, which is not correct. They were done by Klaus Badelt. Don't ask me how I got those two mixed up!
TV is the New Radio
"The New Radio: TV Ads Give Up-and-Coming Musicians Priceless Exposure" is an article that was published recently, which features quotes from Joe Purdy, one of my new musical favorites. It also mentions Ingrid Michaelson, Feist and Sara Bareilles, all of whom I enjoy. I give my opinion as to whether or not musical artists are "selling out" when they license their music for commercials.
Spurs Out of Playoffs Contention
I'm sad to report that the San Antonio Spurs have ended their season after being beaten by the L.A. Lakers in the NBA Western Conference Finals. Oh, well, there's always next year!
Obama for President!
In much happier news, Barack Obama is now the presumptive Democratic Presidential nominee after securing enough delegates in the primaries and caucuses.
Music Credits
"Audio and Murder," by The Frantic
"Hard Not to Fall in Love," by Austin & Elliott
"High Low," by Nathan Wiley
