Narnia & Music, Two of My Favorite Things
I finally took in "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" this week and enjoyed it immensely. Although the story was changed somewhat for the film, it captured the Narnian spirit quite well, I think. I suggest reading the books, if you've never done so, to get the full picture of the Narnian world and all its various inhabitants.

I've fallen in love with Regina Spektor's song, "The Call," which is featured in the "Prince Caspian" soundtrack. It's beautiful and bittersweet, invoking the longing that must come when one has to leave Narnia. Yes, I'm a geek. ;)

Correction: While talking about the "Hancock" trailer/soundtrack, I said that the "Pirates of the Caribbean" soundtracks were done by Hans Zimmer, which is not correct. They were done by Klaus Badelt. Don't ask me how I got those two mixed up!

TV is the New Radio
"The New Radio: TV Ads Give Up-and-Coming Musicians Priceless Exposure" is an article that was published recently, which features quotes from Joe Purdy, one of my new musical favorites. It also mentions Ingrid Michaelson, Feist and Sara Bareilles, all of whom I enjoy. I give my opinion as to whether or not musical artists are "selling out" when they license their music for commercials.

Spurs Out of Playoffs Contention
I'm sad to report that the San Antonio Spurs have ended their season after being beaten by the L.A. Lakers in the NBA Western Conference Finals. Oh, well, there's always next year!

Obama for President!
In much happier news, Barack Obama is now the presumptive Democratic Presidential nominee after securing enough delegates in the primaries and caucuses.

Music Credits
"Audio and Murder," by The Frantic
"Hard Not to Fall in Love," by Austin & Elliott
"High Low," by Nathan Wiley

The Smooth Truth?
Unable to come up with a good name for the show this week, I resorted to using the Random Title Generator. Thus, the title is total nonsense. ;)

Laurie Retires From RF
After nearly a year of co-hosting, Laurie has decided to retire from Random Fandom. Thanks for everything, Mom! You'll be missed.

All I Want For Christmas
I'm super excited to share news about the release of Josh Groban's Christmas album, "Noel": It will be available starting on October 9 online from Barnes & Noble or Amazon, as well as from all regular "brick and mortar" retailers. Additionally, A special edition of "Noel" featuring a "Making of the CD" DVD will be available exclusively from Target starting October 9. Also check Josh's official site for the regular edition of "Noel," which comes with a special Christmas ornament.

Summer B-Ball, Baby!
It may be the off season for the NBA, but there's still plenty of great basketball action happening now! I talk about Team USA's gold medal-winning victory in the FIBA Tournament of the America's 2008 Olympics qualifying game; and mention the EuroBasket '07 Tournament, in which the Europeans are currently vying for berths to the 2008 Summer Games. I also give an update on the San Antonio Spurs players who are likely to compete in the '08 Games: Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili and Fabricio Oberto.

Beijing 2008 Olympic Games: Get Involved
I express my longstanding interest in the Olympic Games and talk about a way the general public can get involved in the Opening/Closing Ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Summer Games: BOCOG looking for smiling children's faces for ceremonies.

Demetri Martin & Comedy Central
I'm intrigued by Demetri Martin's blog post, in which he mentions that he's taping a "pilot" for Comedy Central. >

Quiz Me
I recommend the mental_floss Quiz of the Day and talk about my results from the Genius or "Real World" Castmate? quiz.

Song of the Moment
I introduce this new segment by revealing that I cannot get "1 2 3 4," by Feist, out of my head.

Music Credits
Intro music: "Baltic Surf," by the B-Sea Surfers

Outro song: "One Chance," by Skipping Girl Vinegar.
